How to rank these electromagnetic waves on the basis of their speed in vacuum?

Electromagnetic waves or EM waves are formed when the electric field and magnetic field come into contact. Electromagnetic waves are perpendicular (right angles) to both the electric field and magnetic field. Let’s see whether it is possible to rank these electromagnetic waves on the basis of their speed in vacuum.

The traveling speed of these electromagnetic waves is same as they travel at speed of light in vacuum. Therefore, we cannot write a solution for how to rank these electromagnetic waves on the basis of their speed in vacuum.

But, the relationship which connects speed of the electromagnetic wave, their frequency and wavelength is,

V=f\lambda

V – speed of electromagnetic wave

f – frequency of the wave

\lambda – wavelength of the wave

From above equation, we can say that if the speed is constant at vacuum, then the product of frequency and wavelength is constant

Then we can say when frequency increases, wavelength decreases. Following diagram shows the frequency and wavelength characteristics.
